A Day For Daisies CHRISTMAS IN JULY!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas - okay, well, maybe not considering the 100 degree temps we're seeing here on the east coast but I can pretend, right!?  A Day for Daisies has wonderful Christmas images -- to include these adorable elves! -- so the ADFD DT decided to showcase them this week.  I've used Candy Elf A, B, and C.  They are paper-pieced and I added shading using my copics.  Their "candies" are made from shrink plastic, acrylic paint and Glossy Accents.  I cut the boxes using my Cricut and the Tags, Bags, Boxes & More cartridge and those tasty treats are mini cupcakes baked in my Baby Cakes maker :).

So, while the weather outside is sweltering, I'm sitting in my craft room happily humming  Christmas carols and dreaming of S*N*O*W ;)

Happy Friday!  <3 Lisa

What's Up!?

***If you are looking for the A Day For Daisies Scavenger Hunt/Hop, please click HERE****

I'm so excited to see a few new faces following me!  Thank you for joining me and I will be making my way over to your blogs in the next day or so :)

I would like to share a card I made using this darling little turtle digi from Doodle Pantry.  He is from the Turtle Trio Color Plus set which includes three fabby colored turtle images, matching digi paper, several sentiments, and outlines of "What's up Turtle" (the one I used) and "Turtle Hello"!  Now, I originally intended to use the colored version of the image plus the digi paper but my printer is out of color ink and when I grabbed the box containing the replacement color ink cartridge...it was empty - GAH!  I try to keep my supplies stocked but oh well, at least I can always color :)  I used copic markers for everything except the markings on his shell and for that, I used DCWV printed cardstock.  I think gave his shell a generous coat of Glossy Accents - boy I love that stuff! :) - and did the same for his eyes.  The flowers were made from a Cuttlebug die (asterisks) I bought on super clearance from AC Moore  -- yep, I was digging in those bins again ;) -- and they are cut from Bazzill Smoothie paper.  The flower centers are from K&Company and the turtle brad is from Doodlebug.  I stamped the sentiment with orange ColorBox ink and a $1 clear stamp from Michaels.  I cut the card and mats using my Cricut and the "Just Because" Cards cartridge.

If you haven't tried Doodle Pantry images yet, you should head on over to the Doodle Pantry Challenge Blog grab a freebie image, whip up a card, and enter it in the Stock the Pantry Challenge.  The theme is to use a DP image so...if you already have DP images, what are you waiting for...whip up a card and enter it in the Stock the Pantry Challenge :)

Hope you have a lovely week!  <3  Lisa

New ADFD Challenge - SECRET ingredients!

There's a new Challenge starting today at A Day For Daisies, and it's a challenge with a fun twist!  There are "Secret ingredients" each of the design used and you will need to discover what they are and use them in your card!  Isn't that fun!?   But sure to click on my pic so you can examine it closely ;)

My card features new release image, "Water Play," and she is colored with copics.  I created the ocean water this little sweetie is splashing in by mixing Pearl Ex with Glossy Accents, Glitter Snow (for a little foam) and Mudd Puddles sand paste.  The paper is from Cloud Nine Designs called Sea Side.  So have you guessed what the SECRET ingredients are yet!?  Be sure to visit the blogs of my fellow DT members  (there are links on the side of my blog!)  Our July Guest Designer, Audrey (aka Hippieaud) is in on it too :)  So you will want to visit her blog too!

Good Luck!

I also wanted to let you know about a wonderful interview with Tammy - the artist behind A Day For Daisies - on Janna's Blog (fellow DT member!).  It is a wonderful opportunity to learn about Tammy and her inspirations (and a peek into her creative space!!).  You will definitely want to check it out!

Happy Crafting! <3 Lisa

Mermaid Waterglobe!

A few weeks ago, I was digging through the clearance racks at A.C. Moore (and yes, really, you have to dig *snort*) and I found this cute little water globe for $1.  It has a slot in the center for a picture and I figured I couldn't go wrong to get it for a buck :)  I'm so glad I did because when my There She Goes mermaid stamps - Make a Splash - arrived, I knew immediately I would use the water globe to showcase them :)  I created the background using Suzanne Dean's YouTube video on how to create a cloud sky background (HERE) and even though she teaches how to make sponge the clouds around the stamped image, I was worried I would ruin my already-colored image so I fussy-cut her out and layered it on my background.  The image was stamped with Memento tuxedo black ink, colored with copics and embellished with Stickles.  I also put Glossy Accents on the mermaid tail, water, and flower.  Now, I have been enjoying this little globe sitting on my craft table but I am seriously considering taking it to work.  This little sweetie really puts a smile on my face and boy, I can sure use that at work :)   Happy Crafting! <3 Lisa

Floating By to Say Hi!

Hi All!  I hope your weekend is going well.  I wanted to pop in to share this card.  I have been wanting to learn how to make those great sky backgrounds with the big fluffy clouds and lo and behold, I found this great tutorial from Suzanne Dean - youtube video here!  Now, she shows the technique of making the sky around your image but for this card, I knew I was going to pop up the image and balloons so I went ahead and did the background first.  My image, "Balloon Ants," comes from Doodle Pantry and while I used the outline of the image, Laurie offers a colored version *complete with matching digi paper!!* as well.  I made the rest of the balloons by cutting them on my Cricut using the Celebrations cartridge and varying the sizes of the balloons to create a sky full of balloons some higher and some farther away.  The sentiment came with the image - Laurie rocks! not only do you get amazing images, but you get sentiments too and sometimes even matching digi papers :)  There is still time to enter the Doodle Pantry Challenge and all you have to do is use a Doodle Pantry image (have I mentioned Laurie has great FREEBIES too?).  Happy Crafting! <3 Lisa

Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge #62!!

Happy Saturday All!  It is time for a new challenge over at Wee Memories.

Our sponsor this week is Stamps of Life.
The theme is clean and simple - CAS

For my CAS card, I used A Day For Daisies digital image, Lemon Fairy.  It's colored with copics and then, I added texture to the lemon using a Fiskars texture plate.  The sentiment reads, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade and drink it up."  The sentiment is a Studio G clear stamp (for a $1!).   I fished the ribbon out of a Michaels $1 ribbon bin :)

I hope you will come play along with us at Wee Memories!!

Have a lovely weekend! <3 Lisa

A Fairy Special Bundle of Love

Hello All!  This sweet image, "Bundle of Love" is from A Day For Daisies.  It is one of several amazing images with coordinating poems that make up the July club kit.  Be sure to check them out!

I had a black box that a necklace came in and I kept it because it opened like a book.   The club kit images belong in a book so, using that black box, I created a one for my image :)  I made the chiffon flower by following the tutorial - HERE - from Crafter's Digital Art Center.  The box got a complete makeover -- I re-covered the whole box with a thin light green card stock and just before adding the polka-dot heavy card stock, I placed a pink ribbon around the whole box so that it could be closed with a bow.   Happy Friday and have a great weekend! <3 Lisa

Babycakes Maker and Doodle Pantry = Baking up some FUN!

If you are looking for the  A Day For Daisies Sweet Summer Blog Hop, please click HERE

Hello Friends and a warm welcome to you and my new FOLLOWERS!  I'm happy to have you all here :)  I have decided that once I hit 50 followers, I'm going to celebrate with some blog candy!

I bought this neat little appliance called a Babycakes Cupcake Maker (see it HERE).  I am not much of a cook and I really don't bake well; I make more of a mess than anything edible...*but* this little cupcake maker may well be the answer to my baking woes!  It was super easy to use --ahhh, this is key for me -- and I would actually have to say it was fun :).  I *love* the tiny little cupcakes it makes!  I was so inspired by my new found toy, I had to pull out my Doodle Pantry baking ants digi stamps and whip up this cute little gift set!

I used DCWV printed cardstock from the Kitchen stack.  The first image, the ants stirring the batter, is colored with copics.  I cut it out and then positioned it on the paper that looked like a kitchen counter.  The rolling pin and whisk were cut by my Cricut using the From My Kitchen cartridge.  The sentiment is one from the digi set.  The second image, oven mit, is paper pieced and the ants are colored with copics.  I cut a small box with my Cricut and the Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More cartridge.  The sentiment is another from the digi set.

The Babycakes maker bakes the cupcakes in less than 10 minutes!  I let them cool while I crafted my little set, and by the time I was finished, I was able to frost them up and include one in the pic :)
Happy Crafting! <3 Lisa

Hello Kitty Baby Shower - Favors!

I finished the favors for the Hello Kitty Baby Shower!  I posted the invitations last week (HERE).  Next, I'm going to do a banner and possibly a diaper cake if time permits!

I cut 6" boxes using my Cricut and the Tags, Bags, Boxes & More cartridge and assembled them.  Next, using the Baby Steps cart, I cut 3.5" carriages in pink and green and layered them.  Then it was time to add Kitty and to create one that was looking over the side of the buggy but the only image like (Hello Kitty Greetings cart) that was one with a teddy bear on her head!  Cute, but not what I wanted....SO, I used the "shadow" cut of that image (and snipped off the bear) and then cut the paws from the same image and then cut the Hello
Kitty face.  I think they turned out pretty cute :)

Once Hello Kitty was glued in place, I glued the carriage to the back of the boxes.  Each box is big enough for 3 Hershey nuggets which I covered with matching printed paper.  The rhinestones are from Martha Stewart.  So, now I'm off to finish a project for A Day for Daisies!  There's a cool new challenge beginning Friday so please check back for details on that! :)

GRRRRRReat!

Greetings Everyone!  I hope your July 4th was Spectacular!  This was a quiet weekend for my husband and I as this was weekend that my niece moved back to Indiana.  I had hoped things would work out and she would want to go to school here but ultimately, I just want her to be happy and comfortable.  If that means going home, then I support her and that means she can have vacations HERE :)  Right Lauren!? ;)
So, onto my card!

Today is the 5th of the month so that means NEW IMAGES from DOODLE PANTRY - Yippee!  Here is a card I made using "Quirky Alligator."  Isn't he adorable!?  He's colored with copics and I layered the image on a few different kinds of papers.  The card is Bazzill cardstock (Rainforest); the orange cardstock is Bazzill also but I am not certain of the color.  The plaid print is from DCWV Safari kids matstack.  The alligator skin paper was created using green crackle print paper (I think from Creative Imaginations?) and then I embossed it using Fiskars texture plates.  The balloon was cut from a balloon-printed transparency (from Momenta) and the buttons are from Basic Grey.  I created the sentiment by combining one of Laurie's (GRRRReat) and a clear stamp (Birthday Wishes).   Laurie has a section in the store, "Digi Grab Bag" and there you will find digis  have been marked down 50%.  This grab bag is available today through July 19th!  Check it out HERE!

HAPPY CRAFTING! <3 Lisa

Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge BLOG HOP!

Welcome to the Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge Blog Hop!  I am very excited to be a guest designer for the month of July - Awesome!  If you have arrived here from Jenny's blog, then you have started in the right place and you are on your way  :)

The sponsor for this challenge is THERE SHE GOES

...you will definitely want to check out their July Release Bundle ;)
The prize is a $25 Gift Certificate
The theme for the challenge is Summertime!

Here is a little "summertime" inspiration to send you on your way:

The NEXT STOP is ANITA's Blog, Crafty Girl Designs!

Nothing is more "summertime" to me than heading to the seashore.  It's funny, I didn't see the ocean until I was 25 but now that I have, it is the thing about summer I love the most :)

The image is a clear stamp from Belles & Whistles, "tube wear," and she's colored with copics.  I cut out the image and placed her on a background of cloud-printed paper and created the beach using  Mudd Puddles sand paste. The ocean water was created by mixing Pearl Ex into Glossy Accents.  I used UTEE on the inner tube because I wanted it to look shiny like those cute blow up rings with the bright patterns!  I also dipped Prima paper flowers and the tiny fish embellishments (made from a paper punch) into UTEE.  The card is Bazzill cardstock.

Happy Hopping! <3 Lisa
